slatepipe operational

Release notes

Versioning is ordinary semantic versioning with one promise on top: within a minor series, the two documented database views keep their shape and an older agent keeps talking to a newer collector.

0.14.22026-09-29 patch
  • Fix a step mark with a trailing tab being counted as part of the step name, which split one pipeline's history into two.
  • prune no longer holds a lock on the runs table while deleting event payloads; the nightly pass on a 1.4 GB database dropped from 90 s to 11 s.
  • The agent reports the spool byte count with every batch, so a truncated history is visible in the interface instead of only in the agent log.
0.14.12026-09-04 patch
  • Reject records whose step durations sum to more than the run duration; these came from a job printing marks from two shells at once.
  • Interface: the run detail page no longer loads the stderr tail twice on a slow connection.
0.14.02026-08-19 minor
  • New rule type missed_schedule with a grace window. This is the first rule that can fire without a run.
  • Baselines now use a trailing median over 30 runs instead of a mean over 20. Thresholds stop being dragged around by one catastrophic night.
  • --timeout on the agent records a timeout outcome distinct from a non-zero exit.
  • Schema version 9. Additive, but the migration rewrites the baseline cache and takes about a minute per million runs.
0.13.22026-07-02 patch
  • Webhook payloads include median_duration, which was documented a release early by mistake.
  • Agent builds for linux/arm64 are no longer three days behind the amd64 ones.
0.13.02026-05-27 minor
  • Two collectors can share one database. Alert de-duplication moved into the database behind a unique constraint.
  • check subcommand validates the config and rule files and points at the offending line.
  • Removed the experimental scheduler plugin added in 0.11.0, which broke on an upstream patch release and could stop recording without saying so.
0.12.12026-04-08 patch
  • Stop truncating the stderr tail mid-rune on non-ASCII output.
  • The compose file in the documentation now waits for a healthy database instead of retrying noisily for ten seconds.
0.12.02026-02-24 minor
  • Repeatable --tag k=v on runs, filterable in the interface.
  • Row-count rules gained min_median_rows so small reference tables stop producing daily noise.
  • PostgreSQL 12 is no longer supported; 13 is the floor.
0.11.02025-11-18 minor
  • Experimental read-only plugin for one third-party scheduler's metadata database. Withdrawn in 0.13.0.
  • Spool ceiling with oldest-first eviction, default 256 MiB.
0.10.02025-08-12 minor
  • Per-step row counts through printed step marks. This is the feature the product was eventually about.
  • Interface rewritten as server-rendered pages after a year of a client-side one that nobody could debug.
0.6.02025-03-03 minor
  • Alert rules in a file rather than hard-coded ratios.
  • First release after Slatepipe BV was registered, and the first one we supported for money.
0.3.02024-10-21 minor
  • Durations compared against a pipeline's own history instead of a fixed threshold.
  • Spooling to disk when the collector is unreachable.
0.1.02024-07-18 minor
  • First public build. A wrapper, an HTTP endpoint, one table and a page listing runs.

Builds between these entries existed but were not announced; anything not listed here was a documentation or packaging change. The earliest tags from spring 2024 are not published, because they were a script in one person’s home directory and the schema changed daily.
